MARITIME CASUALTY - WHAT WENT WRONG AND WHY

Our mission is to investigate and discover the facts and real reason for marine casualties what really happened and why. For years we have gone beyond the headlines and looked for real answers.

F/V NEAHKAHNIE AGROUND

Seattle-based, steel-hulled F/V NEAHKAHNIE ran aground near Bush Point, Coast Guard rerouted, which is on the west side of Whidbey Island. No one aboard the 97-foot vessel was injured and there has been no pollution. The Coast Guard set a 250-foot safety zone around NEAHKAHNIE, and a salvage company placed 500 feet of containment boom as a precaution while she’s grounded.

At last word, the crew is hoping to get free with the next high tide. Alternate towing plans are in process. The Coast Guard is investigating the grounding.
