Diver Decompression sickness – Medevaced

On September 23, 2014 the fishing vessel TERESA JEAN, located off Patos Island in the San Juan Islands, reported a diver in need of immediate assistance. Decompression sickness was diagnosed.

The Coast Guard Response Boat arrived less than 30 minutes later and transferred the injured diver. Ten minutes later, a Coast Guard helicopter from Port Angeles, WA medevaced the 22-year old diver to Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle.

The diver’s condition was not known.
