Crewman Lost Overboard

F/V ESPERANZA lost a crew member to drowning at around on June 10 when Cornell Perry Bean, Jr. went overboard without a life jacket in the Gulf of Alaska near Cordova. ESPERANZA crew located him in about ten minutes in the foggy weather, after which CPR was administered for another hour. CPR did not revive Mr. Bean.

According to reports, the Alaska State Troopers received a 9-1-1 call from the crew; the Coast Guard was also alerted. Mr. Bean, age 40, is from Kake, southeast of Sitka.
