Injury on Jetty

A man suffering a severe leg injury was rescued on the north jetty of Grays Harbor, Washington.

A Coast Guard Air Station Astoria MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted the man and brought him to the Bowerman airport in Hoquiam, Washington, where he was transferred to Airlift Northwest medical personnel for transport to Seattle for further medical care.

The initial report of the injured 41-year-old man came in to personnel at Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor via 911 dispatch. The station personnel relayed the report to watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Columbia River who directed the launch of the helicopter crew.

Weather on scene at the time of the incident was reported at 16 to 24 mph winds and two miles of visibility.
