F/V NO LIMITS search for two crew suspended

A spokesperson with the Coast Guard said crews have suspended their search for two missing fishermen after a boat sank near Matinicus Island on Saturday afternoon.

Officials said they received a distress signal around 3:45 p.m. Saturday from the fishing vessel No Limits. The boat is ported in Cushing, Maine.

Efforts to contact the boat went unanswered and a search began covering 130 nautical miles over 17 hours, officials said.

A search helicopter spotted a person in the water on a raft with a flare Saturday. That person, the boat’s captain Chris Hutchinson, was taken to Maine Medical Center. He has since been released.

“Whenever our fellow mariners remain missing, especially after an extensive search, it has a huge impact on all us in the local coastal community,” said Lt. Cdmr. Timm Balunis, the search and rescue coordinator in a statement. “We ask the community to keep the missing crew and their families in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

The names of the missing men have not been released.
